To make installing continuous brush grommet strips easier and cleaner, I designed this T-shaped plastic extrusion with a cosmetic top flange, to cover and finish the edges of a worksurface or cutout; the extrusion can be used for single-edge installations, or assembled into a frame for installation into a cutout. The brush strip is mounted into the upper slot on the inner face of the extrusion, while the lower slot holds a connector plate for assembling the frame. The original concept featured a rounded, molded end cap, however, the production version foregoes that detail, and instead, uses mitered lengths of the extrusion to create the finished frame. The extrusions are sold by length, in 1-ft increments, with or without brush, or as a frame kit, with the brushes, ready for assembly and installation. The product has been so successful that two colors have been added to the original Black: Grey and Brown. The Brush Grommet Extrusion is licensed to and sold by Doug Mockett & Company.
